Happy Friday Folks!
Sooooo… this is traditionally the time when the New Year’s rush starts to slow down…
We’ve already talked about how not having a plan or structure will kill the pursuit of any goal.
There’s another goal assassin.
Trying to do too much.
“Yep, I’m going to do the Daniel fast and go to the gym everyday and drink 100oz of water everyday and get 8 hours of sleep and…and…and…”
Typing that made me tired!
Most of you have already committed to healthier lifestyle, but some of you keep knocking yourself off the horse because you’re doing too much at once.
The Power of Micro Habits
If you haven’t heard yet, micro habits are the bomb diggity. (I’m assuming you’re all old enough to know what the bomb diggity is.)
What is a micro habit?
Drinking a glass of water every morning.
OR (instead of ‘and’)
Going to bed 10 minutes earlier.
Meditating for 1 minute each day.
In other words, it is a tiny habit that you focus on implementing and then build upon. The key is that it has to be so small that you are confident that you can do it regularly.
THEN you do it consistently for at least 3 weeks and add something else.
The first few months don’t seem like much, but if you do it, where will you be this time next year?
It’s like only losing 1/2 a pound a week. Doesn’t seem like much does it?
This time next year you’d be down nearly 26 pounds.
How does that sound?
